Design Challenge: The daily routine of an active family had severely worn down this kitchen. The oak cabinets were dull and scratched. The laminate countertops were dingy and dark. The appliances were dated and starting to fail. And the tile flooring was hard and cracked. The family wanted a kitchen that was not only updated and functional, but bright and lively; just like their family.
Design Solution: After taking a closer look, the cabinets were determined to be in good condition, and with careful attention, could be brought back to life. They were sanded, cleaned and enameled a soft shade of white to brighten the space. The crisp appearance of the cabinets and coordinating subway tile was offset with rich, reddish brown Amendoim (Brazilian Oak) flooring that added movement and depth to the area. The tired laminate countertop was replaced with a vibrant blue, green and white granite that is so uniquely beautiful the homeowners used it in three other places in their home! The kitchen remodel was complete with the arrival of all new stainless steel appliances, sink and faucet.
